A Word For Today
Hello my brothers and sisters in Christ!
As I was meditating in my early time with the Lord today, I was impressed by the following verse in the book of Hebrews.
Though I have researched this verse on prior occasions, I was impressed to do so again to refresh my mind on just exactly what it means.
As always, I go to my Hebrew/Greek Concordance to ascertain the meaning of the key words as Greek is an extremely exact language.
Heb 11:1 Now(G1161) faith(G4102) is(G2076) the substance(G5287) of things hoped for(G1679), the evidence(G1650) of things(G4229) not(G3756) seen(G991).
You see those little numbers by the words? This is the Greek word from the concordance that was translated into our bible.
Now I'll give you the Greek word for "Hoped for"
lpizō
el-pid'-zo
From G1680; to expect or confide: - (have, thing) hope (-d) (for), trust.
The thing that impressed me was the difference between the words "Hope" and our English use of the word "Wish".
Let's take a look at the definitions of these words.
Definition of WISH transitive verb 1: to have a desire for (something, such as something unattainable) wished he could live his life over
Definition of HOPE hoped;hoping intransitive verb 1: to cherish a desire with anticipation : 2archaic : trust transitive verb 1: to desire with expectation of obtainment or fulfillment
It is my considered belief that most Christians don't understand the difference when praying and are merely wishing and there is no "Expectation" about receiving from the Lord.
I have coined a phrase that I use and that has produced results for me in my relationship with the Lord in receiving from Him. "It's the earnest expectation that produces the manifestation".
Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
That word "diligently" means to "seek with persistence in a worshipful and reverent manner".
I trust this will bless you as it has me today.
May God richly bless you,
Larry Asbill

“God is not trying to change you, He’s trying to replace what’s missing!”
2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
What this means to me is, that God wants to introduce you to the “New You”. We have been so busy trying to live “Good Lives” and to “Please God” by cleaning up the “Old Man”, i.e. “keep the Law”, which leads to “Condemnation and Failure” that we have forgotten the primary directive which is our relationship with Him. There is a whole sermon on this that I am going to be “Streaming” in the near future. “We don’t have a sin problem, we have a sin habit!”
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: 9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. 10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. 11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Please note in the above scripture that, via our relationship with Him that we are “FREE” from sin and that sin “NO MORE HAS DOMINION” or “Control” over you. WOW! Ask the Holy Spirit what this really means. But the real issue here is “How do we move from a “Bad Habit” to being free?
*I will soon be covering these issues in sermons on the internet. (The above one liner “Clips” were taken from sermons by Graham Cook. I thought they were very enlightening, so I am passing them on. I added the scriptures.)
Along Life’s Way
I know not where
I go this day,
Whether on city street
Or mountain way,
I know not what
My life may bring,
Ere sweet joy
Or bitter sting
But one thing I know
And tis true,
My God says,
I will be with you.
Whether uphill or dale
Or valley deep,
In His firm hand
My life He’ll keep.
So fear not my soul
What’s in life’s store,
My hand's in His
Forever more.
